About YorMaths

Hi, my name is Carla Robbie-Tuxford and I am passionate about everyone getting the best grade that they can in Maths.

I was a Maths teacher for fifteen years in a local secondary school when I left to start my own dog walking business. However I continued tutoring students in my evenings, both face-to-face and online, and I have also been the sole Maths teacher for a student who has been homeschooled.

My qualifications are extensive and varied! I have a BSc in Maths, PGCE, MEd in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion and finally a BA in Humanities and Religious Studies. I love learning as much as I love teaching and I try to ensure my lessons are fun and knowledgeable.

During my teaching career I taught Maths at Key Stage Three, GCSE, A Level and the International Baccalaureate. I was also acting SENCo for a short time and Assistant Head of Year. I have also marked GCSE Higher exam papers for over twenty years (Often two papers a year) so I have an extensive understanding of what examiners are looking for.

Since leaving teaching I have been a Governor at two local schools, and I was Chair of Governors for four years, and finally I also write the school timetable for another school, so despite leaving teaching I still have a thorough understanding of schools!

Finally I have had many clear DBS checks (Every school insist on their own) and am up to date with Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
